Got the Keys!

We closed yesterday, yay!  Our closing was at 1:00 at the bank attorney's office. The closer, our attorney, the owners and their attorney were all on time. The office door was locked so we waited and chatted a little. The property was owned by 3 people, a husband and wife and the husbands father. The husband didn't come to the closing.

Our attorney's made several calls to the attorney and we couldn't find him. But, they all agreed that he should be coming because they spoke to him earlier.

So, since we had time to kill, Gina asked the father how to take care of the fig trees. One tree looked like it was buried. He didn't really say much but we thought it was because he didn't speak English well. The woman chirped in a little and told us about the pear trees and the grapes.

Finally the bank attorney showed up -- 30 minutes late. We went right into the conference room and it was a flurry of signing papers....for an hour straight.  Our mortgage woman from the bank came and brought us a bottle of wine.

We got to the house right about 3. The owners did a pretty good job of cleaning out. A few things left here and there, but over all a good job. But then we walked around the yard and I noticed some freshly turned soil...and the best fig tree was gone!  We aren't going to say anything...but the father who we believe took the tree lives right around the corner.

We really didn't get too much done other than setting up the work bench and start on the cleaning. The carpet on the stairs to the basement was coming up a little. I was afraid someone would trip on it....so I removed it.
